LiMPETS Educator

Part-time, 32 hours per week - temporary

The Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary habitats and wildlife through the development of a diverse community of informed and active ocean stewards.

Program description: The Association in partnership with the Gulf of the Farallones, Monterey Bay, and Channel Islands national marine sanctuaries conducts LiMPETS, Long-term Monitoring Program and Experiential Training for Students. LiMPETS is an environmental monitoring and education program for students, educators, and volunteer groups. This hands-on program was developed to monitor the ocean and coastal ecosystems of California’s national marine sanctuaries to increase awareness and stewardship of these important areas. Locally, the LiMPETS program serves middle and high schools in the San Francisco Bay area. Monitoring activities take place on beaches and rocky intertidal areas in and around the Gulf of the Farallones and northern Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuaries. Position description: The LiMPETS Educator will provide instructional and administrative program support for LiMPETS. Primary responsibilities include:

Position dates: Fall Season (September 20th – December 20th, 2010); Spring Season (January 10th – April 8th, 2011).

Compensation: $15 per hour, unbenefitted.
